Lunar New Year

If you’re getting in a take away to celebrate the Lunar New Year, these are our favourite Asian food pairings.

Winter Breeze

This will most definitely put everyone in a jolly mood this winter.

Makes 3

What you’ll need…
  • 132ml Vodka
  • 178ml Cranberry Juice
  • 178ml Grapefruit Juice
  • 3 tsp Simple Syrup
  • 250ml (1 can) No. 1 Sparkling White
How to make it…
  1. Chill 3 champagne flutes.
  2. Add some ice to a cocktail shaker and add the vodka, cranberry juice, grapefruit juice and simple syrup.
  3. Shake for 30 seconds to chill.
  4. Pour evening between each of the champagne flutes.
  5. Top each flute up with No.1 Sparkling White.

Making Simple Syrup… To make simple sugar, heat equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Let cool completely before using.

Pomegranate Punch

This refreshing Pomegranate Punch is made with tart-sweet pomegranate juice and topped up with our No.1 Sparkling White.

Makes 12

What you’ll need…
  • 1 quart pomegranate juice
  • 2 cups fresh orange juice, strained
  • 2 cups chilled limeade
  • Ice
  • 1 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 750ml (3 cans) No. 1 Sparkling White
  • Garnish: Lime and orange slices
How to make it…
  1. In a punch bowl, combine the pomegranate juice, orange juice and limeade.
  2. Pour in the No. 1 Sparkling White wine
  3. Float lime and orange slices on top.
  4. Ladle into 12 ice-filled glasses, sprinkle with pomegranate seeds and serve.

Earl Grey Aquavit Spritz

Earl Grey Aquavit Spritz

The mellow, floral sweetness of the honey syrup pairs perfectly a touch of lemon in this earl grey tea-infused spritz cocktail. Recipe by Ashtin Berry, Food & Wine.

Makes 12

What you’ll need…

  • 750ml aquavit
  • 1 lemon peel strip
  • 2 tbsp Earl Grey tea leaves
  • 178ml fresh lemon juice
  • 178ml honey simple syrup
  • 118ml water
  • 8 dashes pear bitters
  • 750ml (3 cans) No. 1 Sparkling White
  • Garnish: Lemon and pear slices

How to make it…

  1. In a large pitcher, add 474ml Earl Grey–infused aquavit.
  2. Stir in lemon juice, honey simple syrup, water, and bitters.
  3. Refrigerate until chilled, 2 hours or up to overnight.
  4. Just before serving, stir in No. 1 Sparkling White carefully, so not to over fizz/spill.
  5. Serve over crushed ice in rocks glasses.
  6. Garnish servings with lemon and pear slices.

Making tea infused aquavit…

  1. In a large bowl, stir together aquavit, lemon peel strip, and tea leaves.
  2. Let stand, uncovered, at room temperature 20 minutes.
  3. Pour mixture through a fine wire-mesh strainer into another large measuring cup or bowl; discard solids.
  4. Repeat straining procedure.
  5. Store in airtight container at room temperature up to 3 months.

Making Honey Syrup…

Combine honey and 2 tbsp. hot water in a lidded container like a jar; cover and shake to dissolve honey.

Brandy Apple Fizz

Brandy Apple Fizz… the perfect way to warm up on a cool, fall evening.

Serves 2

What you’ll need…
  • 178ml No. 1 Sparkling White Wine
  • 114ml Brandy
  • 178ml Apple Cider
  • 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Maple Syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnish: Dried wheel of apple and citrus

How to make it…

  1. In a tumbler glass, add a few ice cubes.
  2. Add the brandy, apple cider, lemon juice and maple syrup.
  3. Give the contents a stir to mix well.
  4. Top up the glass with No. 1 Sparkling White.
  5. Garnish with a dried apple wheel and dried citrus wheel.

Rosé Cooler

This Rosé cooler is from Colonel Fox, a dry gin company based in London, and also calls for elderflower spritz and merle cassis.

Serves 4 – 6

What you’ll need…

  • 20ml Colonel Fox London dry gin
  • 20ml No. 3 Rosé
  • 20ml apple juice
  • 10ml Merlet Cassis
  • 20ml lemon juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Wild Elderflower spritz
  • Garnish: Wheel of citrus fruit

How to make it…

  1. Put some ice to a glass
  2. Add the gin, No. 3 Rosé, apple juice, Merlet Cassis, and lemon juice over the ice.
  3. Stir to combine.
  4. Top up the glass with Wild Elderflower spritz and serve.

Strawberry Spritz

Try this thirst quenching Strawberry White Wine Spritz for that perfect for summer cocktail.

Serves 4

What you’ll need…
  • 12 Fresh strawberries
  • 355ml No. 4 White
  • 125ml Vodka
  • 4 tbsp Simple syrup
  • Juice of ¼ lemon
  • 180ml Soda Water
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnish: Sprigs of fresh mint leaves

How to make it…

  1. Divide the strawberries between each of the glasses.
  2. Add 1 tbsp of the simple syrup to each of the glasses, along with the lemon juice.
  3. Mash together using either a muddler or a handle of a wooden spoon.
  4. Add ice to each of the glasses.
  5. Divide the No. 4 White between each of the glasses.
  6. Top up each glass with soda water.
  7. Garnish with sprigs of fresh mint leaves.
